This beautiful Shipibo handwoven textile is an authentic piece of handmade art. This textile was designed and woven by Mirna from the Shipibo community. Mirna’s indigenous tribe lives in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru. The Shipibo see and hear the geometric patterns in nature and reproduce the designs featured in this unique textile. The Shipibo believe the patterns in their manta cloth are healing on the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical level. Each design carries its own special meaning and functions as a musical score called an ‘Icaro’ that can be sung. This one-of-a-kind piece incorporates the Icaro of white pinion. Traditionally, this plant was used for a flowering bath. The colors are inspired from many medicinal plants that are used for steaming.
