Description
Ceramic bird whistle from the community of Pisac, Peru. Each instrument creates a bird song by simply adding water inside the whistle and gently blowing the mouthpiece. This colorful pink whistle represents a songbird. Earthenware whistling vessels were produced by the ancient civilizations of the Andes and it is thought they were used in spiritual ceremonies to encourage a meditative state. These contemporary versions of the past create a bird song and the tone can be altered by the amount of water added into the vessel.
