Description

This beautiful Shipibo manta cloth is an authentic piece of handmade art. This textile was designed and embroidered by Mirtha, from the Shipibo community. Mirtha’s indigenous tribe lives in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru. The Shipibo see and hear the geometric patterns in nature and reproduce the designs featured in this unique textile. The Shipibo believe the patterns in their manta cloth are healing on the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical level. Each design carries its own special meaning and functions as a musical score called an ‘Icaro’ that can be sung. This one-of-a-kind piece features a frog, flower and leaves of Ajo Sacha and ayahuma plant. Maribel shared that the flower of the ayahuma is considered the strongest plant and is connected to the Kambo frog and Icaros.
