This beautiful Shipibo manta cloth is an authentic piece of handmade art made by Juan Gabriel. This textile was designed and hand painted, using the natural tint of Huito, by a member from the Shipibo community, an indigenous tribe living in the Amazon Rainforest of Peru. The Shipibo see and hear the geometric patterns in nature and reproduce the designs featured in this unique textile. The Shipibo believe the patterns in their manta cloth are healing on the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical level. Each design carries its own special meaning and functions as a musical score called an ‘Icaro’ that can be sung. This one-of-a-kind hand painted purple piece features Icaros of the Chiric Sanango, a Master Plant (Teacher Plant).
